Varadero Beach

Riu Varadero 2011 Review

The Riu Varadero is a large five star, All Inclusive hotel on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Varadero beach has 20km of sand with the clearest of waters and coral reefs making it the ideal place for those that want to soak up the sun in a picturesque environment. The hotel grounds are lovely and green, with water features and seating areas.

The Riu has two buffet restaurants serving a variety of good foods from around the world. However the real dining gems come in the form of the a la carte restaurants. With five to choose from you are really spoilt for choice. Gourmet, Asian, Italian, Creole or Seafood menus provide some delicious food with the decor of each fitting the theme to make the experience even better. Two snack bars also cater for those who want to eat by the pool in the sunshine, or just have a less formal eating arrangement.

The Riu has two swimming pools for guests in the main hotel, one ‘splash’ pool and one quiet and serene. The swim-up bars are great for a refreshing drink when the heat gets too much. There are ample places to sit and catch some rays, with sunbeds, parasols and towels on the sun terraces. Every day there is daytime entertainment laid on by the hotel team to help you make the most of your stay, or if you like to keep yourself busy there are two tennis courts to make use of and a multi purpose sports pitch. Water sports on the beach are a must for sporty types, with windsurfing, pedalos, catamarans and sailing to choose from, all included in the hotel package. Fancy being pampered instead? Not a problem. The hotel has its very own spa where you can have treatments, There is a beauty salon, massage, and physiotherapy available for a local charge, or you can use the hotel’s gym, sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi for absolutely nothing!

At night, the best place to be is the nightclub to dance to the salsa rhythm Cuba is famous for! The hotel entertainers also put on live music and shows several days a week.

Standard rooms are clean and well decorated with excellent facilities – telephone, coffee maker, CD player, iron and board, air conditioning, mini bar and satellite TV. The Riu has an exclusive Royal Club section which has Junior Suites, Suites and Master suites which have more space, in particular the Master suites which sleep up to four adults and one child. As well as bigger accommodation, guests at the Royal Club get to enjoy some fantastic extras such as private reception, an International restaurant, cigar bar and their own swimming pool with a whirlpool bath. For that added bonus, 24 hour room service and butler service can be used for no extra cost. A definite treat!

The Riu Varadero is a great hotel for a romantic getaway and watching the sunset on the beach is an experience that will be hard to match.
